hey in the aadsas booklet it has the requirements for each school, what to send with the aadsas app, some state transcripts and letters. if they were all sent to aadsas does another copy have to be sent to the schools as well???

Hey Mobius

YES! you do!
For instance, ARizona school want you to send letter of recommendation (LORs) to them after you submit your AADSAS application. You should SEND the school LORs separately, although eventually AADSAS will send them the same letters.

In addition, make sure you have a letter from a dentist for schools that require it, some schools don't but for those that do, you want to send that in with your AADSAS application or separately to the school.

Good luck!

Call the schools Mobius to make sure. Arizona does not require that you send LOR's to both them and AADSAS. If you submitted your LOR's through AADSAS at or about the same time that you submitted your AADSAS application, they do not require that you send the same letters again to the school, this is straight from a conversation I had with their admissions department. No school that I have talked to has said that the letters and transcripts must be again sent to the school if already submitted through AADSAS.

The only reason I could see them saying that they needed an additional copy forwarded to them is if you submitted your AADSAS application and LOR's at significantly different times through AADSAS. If you have recently submitted your AADSAS application then by all means I would get in contact with the schools you have applied to and get it straight from thier mouth. If this is the case it may help speed up the amount of time it takes to get your application complete.

So far none of the schools I have applied to have required me to forward additional copies of LOR's, etc. to them if I had already sent them to AADSAS - and that includes Arizona. In their communications with me the context in which additional, forwarded material was mentioned was usually in the case the the materials were not included in the packet from AADSAS. If you have any doubts about a particular school then contact them for a firm answer.

I think Eric275 and Sprover are right!
However, I did sent my LORs separately to ARizona (without call them to ask them first though). It is true that AADSAS will send all your LORs to the school no matter what. Sorry if I mislead anyone! Thanks for the correction.

It may not be required but it is something that would be favorable on your part... depending on when you send in the LORs to AADSAS... if you send in the LORs after AADSAS had process and sent out the other part of your applications already... then you should send the LORs to AADSAS as well as to each school... because your packet will reach the schools quicker... despite the fact that the schools will eventually get the LORs from AADSAS... in the case of rolling admissions... sooner is better!

OK great I was wondering why you would send the same materials twice but I will contact some of the schools and ask them if they need transcripts sent separately... my package is being sent out friday so trying to tie up all the loose ends, what did you guys do about the picture, where did you get them taken etc...

Semi-related, semi-unrelated to this topic. . .

My AADSAS has been mailed to my schools (last Wednesday) but I am curious about how well the AADSAS G.P.A matches with your "actual" G.P.A. I don't know much about the average undergraduate school, but my school operates on the quarter system and all classes carry the same weight. (In other words, organic chemistry with a 6 hour lab is worth the same as a level 1 foreign language class.)

So, I guess I'm trying to ask if your AADSAS G.P.A varied by more than a tenth with your undergrad G.P.A.
And if there is a significant discrepancy, should I mail my transcripts to the school directly?

Aside: I ask this because when I applied to med school 2 years ago, one of the admissions directors said adcoms hadn't decided what to do with me because they were worried about my G.P.A. I had a 3.50 from a tough school! 😕
Thanks!
