I took the DAT last summer and got (AA/TS/PAT) 18/19/17. I will be applying the first day the app. comes out, but I'm planning on retaking my DAT sometime towards the end of July. I don't want to be denied based on my old DAT's. Do I need to tell the schools that I'm retaking the test or what do you do in this situation? Will they start reviewing my app. with my old scores until they get my new scores? Is there a form that states you will be taking the DAT again at a later date? Thanks.

AADSAS doesn't want your scores, so I would leave them off of the application. In fact, until schools receive an official copy of your scores from the ADA your file is not complete and schools will not give you any serious consideration. Since you'll be retaking the test your new scores will be sent out to the schools anyway by the ADA and I wouldn't go through the trouble of sending the schools a little note informing them of your retake. On AADSAS's application there is a place for you to imput the future date of your DAT if you are still waiting to take it thus informing schools you have scheduled a date and will be completing the DAT sometime in the future. Best of luck!

What's up USCDent82. Are you in Delta Delta Sigma, the pre-dental club? I think I know you.

I agree with Spygrover. If you going to retake the test, in July. there's no need to waste money by sending in your old scores first and then going through the trouble of updating schools with your new scores. You should just process your App in May, take the test in July, and send in those new scores. July is still very early, and shouldn't put you a disadvantage.

Just make sure that this time you'll be able to do better. Improvement is always a good sign.
