I really hope there's some flexibility here

I'm a Pre-Pharmacy Student and was given early acceptance into Pharmacy School.
President of my class and my grades are excellent but I was going to take a semester of Organic Chemistry in the Summer.

There was a lot of things going on and I ended up getting a D in the course and didn't meet the C requirement.
Class was badly structured without office hours , a lot of cheating creating anxiety, and family depression.
I was so overwhelmed with everything that I just couldn't exhibit my usual academic performance.

Is there any way there can be an extenuating circumstance?
I've worked so hard and the thought of sitting out an entire year and losing all of the organizations, scholarships, and projects despite my record is just so disheartening.

Was hoping there was a way I could ask to be a provisional student or even retake the exams

This is the accreditation that I have to abide by

Please any suggestions with the accreditation? All I have now is hope.
The Dean tried making it sound black and white saying the rules are there but other administrators say there needs to be flexibility and I should bring this to the provost.

I think if you take the initiative to get in touch with them and explain rather than them knocking on your door about this, it will show a lot of maturity on your part. I would say it's probably better to see them in person rather than phone/email since human face to face interaction can be much more convincing (I've gotten marks added this way!). Also, it would probably be in your best interest to have some sort of evidence you can provide them with regarding your struggles (besides your grade) to make your story more plausible. I'm not directing this at you, but anyone can say "I had a bad year", but if you have some sort of supporting evidence that shows that it really builds credibility and increases your chances of them being less stringent. GL!!

Try speaking with the instructor or whoever taught the course, maybe he or she will sympathize with your situation and change it to a C. Give them the reasons you gave us and maybe bring up a redeemable test score you had that might show them you're not an idiot and can actually study if the conditions were different.

Do not go to the provost. Write an official letter of Appeal to the Dean overseeing Admissions (sometimes the student affairs dean, others the dean of the college). Take personal responsibility for failing the class, provide evidence that you have the intellect and capability to complete the program, and offer a solution for how you will make up the knowledge missed by not passing the course.
