Hi 🙂

I know this forum is for med students and I'm not, but I would just like some information as I'm curious about recovering from appendectomy as I just had it.

I'm wanting to fly long haul (2 x 7h flights) as soon as possible and was told by my doctor I should wait 6 weeks, but I was also told other times by different people in hospital, i'm impatient as I was due to fly today and had the surgery 2 days ago, so I cancelled my flight for today as I'm in no shape to fly, the airline says I have to wait 10 days before I could go, I had an open appendectomy

The things I would like to know:

How long would you wait before flying?

There is a greater risk of DVT because of the surgery, if I keep active whilst flying will that eliminate the risk of DVT?

I'm young, fit, and will wait until I feel capable of flying and feel comfortable doing the things I will have to, I'm hoping it will be 4 weeks rather than 6

Thanks for your opinions in advance 🙂
