Hi to all! Can somebody let me know what are the average academic credentials (GPA/MCAT) to be accepted to DO schools? I have seen the stats on the AACOMAS website, but what is the range? I have a good GPA, less than average MCAT score 🙁 , amazing LORs, lots of pre health and research experience. Thanks ! 🙂

numbers aren't everything. (seriously)

that said avg gpa is like 3.4 and avg mcat (depending on school) is 25-27

good luck

I agree... numbers are not everything, but after being treated like a number this application cycle, I have to say they are a lot.

I am like you FutureFemmDoc good application except MCAT. I underestimated the value the MCAT score in an application, believed it was just a small piece of the pie. I am going to take it again this April and if your luck is like mine this year maybe you should too.

One of the greatest things about DO school is that they treat the whole person. This is also true for your application; the schools will look at the whole picture before an acceptance is granted, but the numbers seem to be the key to interviews and secondaries.

-Good luck

I think your interview counts a lot too. If you get an interview, that means you at least fulfill their academic requirement and they just wanted to see how you are in person. I have a very low undergrad GPA, a very high graduate GPA and an average MCAT score. I got 2 interviews. Personally I think I did well for one and bombed the other one. Which was true, because I got into the school I did well in the interview and didn't get in the school I did bad on the interview. So I guess grades and MCAT does matter for an interview invite, but ultimately you still need to do well on the interview 🙂

Hi Dr.B! I am taking it in April as well, in case it doesn't work out with DO schools this year. Lets get over 30 this time !! Best of luck ! 🙂

Thanks to all who replied to my question! I just mailed out secondaries last week and I hope I get interviews because that's where I excel (crossing my fingers)...!

Don't worry, you will be fine. I had an interview at DMU on Friday with 05 in verbal !! It was great and went really well. I am sure I will get good news in two weeks.
