# applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
last years application pool reached in the 7,000's... I think there isnt much change, I would expect more or less the same this year.

i heard people saying there are even more applicants this year than last year.

Does anyone know the highest app # now?
Or does anyone have a number higher than 4333?

are u sure about this Mo007??

Cause I remember a earlier post stating that Temple was already at 2000+ applications, and Gavin stated Arizona is at 1700 (is that above last year?).....so Im assuming applications are VERY high this year!

If you sent yours out Sept. 11 and you're 4333, than I bet right now they are at 6000-6500.....so almost at last years total and we havent even hit November yet!!!

Last year I applied in mid december. My number was in the 6000s, so that might help you determine if there are more/less/or same number from last year.

This is discussed each year. The projected report put out by the ADA expects the numbers to be about the same. Don't have the link of the report, but last year it was on the ADA's web page. You can try looking there.

from what i've been understanding, there definately has been a rise in the number of applicants to the schools that i have interviewed at. i'm assuming that since there has been a rise in applications at these schools one can make a safe guess that the total number of applications this years to the nation's dental school would be higher as well.

as no one can really predict what the final tally will be, i think all we can do is really try ourbest at our interviews and hope we stand out! =)

I think there will be more applicants this year. If it follows trend there ought to be.

Secondly, I know that there is a handful of schools getting a lot of good publicity these days, so their numbers are up.

Which schools? And why the good publicity?

Arizona for one, thanks to ItsGavinC's publicity campaign on SDN.

But seriously, the slumping economy is going to be a factor in the rising applications to ALL professional programs. However, I wouldnt expect more than a 5% rise from last year.

At my interview at Tufts a few weeks ago they mentioned their numbers were up much higher (200 more for the same time period last year).

Also, I applied last year but withdrew my application. I applied in late september and my number was in the mid 3,000's.

There are definetly more applicants this year, or AADSAS is doing something much differrent/faster.
