So, I'm new to SDN, and I'm sure this may be getting old...but I need some advice from experienced applicants. I am a pretty broke grad student (what's new?) and I'm pretty limited in the number of apps I can pay for including secondaries, etc.. I'm going to try for 7-8 (DO schools only), but am I shooting myself in the foot by applying to so few schools? I have decent numbers, 3.45 GPA, 3.51 Science, hoping for about a 30 on the April MCAT based on AAMC practice tests. My grad GPA is from Germany, so I won't bother posting it, but it's pretty good. I guess I'm just nervous since most applicants apply to 10-15 schools. Thanks.

Hi Alyssa,

Did you try and apply for a fee waiver? Anyways, your stats look good and I think you should be fine for DO schools if the rest of your application package is good too.

But there are no guarantees in this whole application process...

I only applied to 4 schools and was fine. Just be good about picking the schools you apply to and make sure your good about getting all your stuff in on time and make sure you really perfect everything. Yeah it's good to apply to lots of schools, but some of us don't have the money (and time if your a grad student).

i also only applied to 4 schools. Sometimes i think its good to only pick a select number of schools that you know u really would like to attend. Dont sell yourself short, go for quality based on where u think you would want to attend, verses quantity. Maybe pick one or two schools where you think you would be a shoe in regardless, ie. a backup school. I personally think its crazy to apply to more than 10-20 schools. Good luck.

With the numbers you have you should be all set.
