I submitted my app yesterday and will be taking dat on 9/5
if i fax my dat score to schools that are willing to accept my unoffical dat score as soon as i'm done taking it. would I be too late to join this year's cycle?

you are not too late, but you are not early. only a small number of schools accept faxed unofficial scores.
