Uh, Oh, I'm just waiting for the wrath to begin by those who think you should do it all yourself. I doubt you will get many helpful replies.

That was the case when I posted something similar in Pre-Med Allopathic

Can anyone who has used any of the consultants below comment on their services?

The biggest concern is not as much the fact you aren't doing it yourself. The biggest issue is what makes you think they are going to help?

Just because they have a nice website doesn't mean they are legit or have a clue.

I dug into the legal/business background on one of these companies probably a year ago and found clear evidence of flat out lies on their site.

Caveat emptor!

He was given very solid advice, but wants to pay someone to spoon-feed it to him personally. Whatever.

These are difficult times for applying and the AMCAS primary and interaction with US SOMs presents a mutli-layered and distinct challenge to gaining acceptance. Non-traditional applicants like myself faces tough decisions, and I will not forgo any actions that can bring me closer to medical education...Paying a consultant is not something I like to do, and I will not be so selfish to think they can not help...I took in the advice I was given and will use that, and your point is really lost on me - spoon-feeding me information I already know? You sure I have a complete picture and analysis of the details in my application? I am not so sure that comes on SDN. Thanks for your concern.

You really don't need an in-depth analysis, just the pointers you were given from current med students, residents, attendings and LizzyM - arguably the best qualified to make suggestions, being as she is adcom. You just don't want to hear it. So good luck then.

I will use SDN, this is a good place for advice.
