i will be applying next year and i am wondering how much money i should save up in order to apply to dental school.

i don't need an exact figure because i realize that it is different for everyone, just a rough estimate based on your experience. (including airfare for interviews, hotels, application fees)

I have spent $4000 so far on application fees, and flights. I expect to spend at least $2500 more before all this is over.

It depends on the number of schools you apply to and how many interviews you get, but say you apply to 10 schools - between AADSAS and secondary application fees and sending DAT scores, you'll spend between $1000 and $1500. Then say you get 5 interviews and you have to fly to 3 and stay one night at a hotel at all five plus food and maybe rental cars, that's another $1500 at least, so I'd say overall you should budget about $3,000. If your grades/scores are low then you probably want to apply to more schools and you'll need to increase that budget.

I'm doing the shotgun approach. So far, just for the AADSAS application, the DAT, and secondaries, it has cost me about $2200. I expect another $2000 - $3000 for interviews (unless I get interviews at all schools - then I'm hosed).
