Needing some advice for the upcoming application process.

I'm hoping to submit the AADSAS application by end of May. (All the transcripts and LORs submitted as well) Then would it be late to take the DAT in end of June? In the ADA website, it says that the official scores are sent out to dental schools 3-4 weeks after the test.

This would mean that my whole application will be complete by the end of July. Is this still early enough?

It should be more than OK.

Moreover, it shouldn't take THAT long for schools to get your official DAT scores since most download them online electronically these days.

Last year I submitted my AADSAS application at the end of May (in the first wave) and took my second DAT at the end of July. Right afterwards I faxed my score report to all schools to update my file. Be advised, though, that not all schools will accept fax forms (UCLA does not), so just order the official score reports from ADEA as soon as you finish your test (or designate it during registration). I am sure there won't be any problems, though.

I'm submitting my AADSAS in mid-June right after my grades are in, and taking a Kaplan course to take the DAT in late July. Is that still early enough? My gpa is 3.9.

thx

It's all about competition! You have great GPA and surely you'll get great grades on DAT. Try to apply earlier than June like by the end of May. I also took my DAT by the first week of July, but I haven't taken Kaplan, so I don't know how the time line of this course works. Because of the large number of applicants it is good to be always early (dentistry has got so popular these days). Good Luck🙂

aadsas takes about 4-6 weeks to process your app, and dat scores are sent to schools much faster, i think within 2 weeks. so doing app in may/june and taking dat in early july will arrive around the same time, which is still pretty early i would think (considering processing times).

I dont think that should be a problem, last year I took the DAT mid July and still got early interviews in Oct/Nov.

Thanks for everyone's input. I've been stressing over the same issue the past few days. I feel better knowing that it wont actually take 3-4 weeks for the dental schools to receive my DAT score and I absolutely think that was an awesome idea to fax my DAT score as soon as I get them. I feel better now that I can submit my app by end of May and take the test in June and still get in by 1st round of interviews. Thanks guys. How long does it take to receive your secondary app after you submit thru aadsas? And is it true that you don't get interview invitation until secondary apps are in?
