So I'm applying to 17 different schools and was curious what others thought about application fees...

Almost all of the schools I'm applying to have $50 application fees with the exception of one $100 fee.

However, one school I'm debating on has an application fee of $175 😱

I know it's my decision, but what are y'alls thoughts on this. Honestly, I can't see paying that much for an application fee, plus the school is in Washington state and I'm in Texas. I don't mind going NE, but not really excited about going NW.

On the other hand, my luck... the one school I decided not to apply to would be the one I would've gotten accepted at.

Any thoughts?

Concerning the $175 school, I didn't complete that application either because at that point my budget was strained and I could complete 3 other secondaries for the price of that one.

Thus if you don't even want to go to the NW then why bother paying that much money to apply there? I wouldn't if I were you....

Just my 2 cents...

I did the exact same thing for the exact same reason. 👍

200$ for Touro-NY. I'm still mad about that. If only I had gotten my first acceptance before being invited to interview at Touro.

Oh well.

Yeah, Touro-NY is one I am leaving off because of the $200. However, still doing NYCOM.

The only redeeming thing about T-NY (and NYCOM does this too for that matter) is that you don't pay the secondary fee unless you're actually being interviwed, so in that regard it might be worth applying.

Yeah the Touro app fees are awfully high...but after you get a few interviews it'll seem less essential to send in all of the secondaries you've received. I'd leave the most expensive secondaries for last unless you're really interested in interviewing at one of the schools that has them.

Here's my take.... If you have the money, why not? Can you really put a price on acceptance/ a school that you might end up falling in love with. You WILL spend the next few years of your life at whatever school you choose, and if you do not love it I cannot imagine how much worse it will make studying 14 hours a day.

Unless you have been to the Northwest, seen the places to be seen and judge the school after looking at it, then I am not one to rule it out. I guess im just more of an open minded person in the sense that I am spontaneous.... I rarely make up my mind of where I want to go and live until I get there. Give it a chance, you may find that you were greatly mistaken on what you thought was there.

Though my opinion might be slightly bias, I am just giving you how I feel about situations such as yourself. If you have the money, do it. If not, move on and go for applications at places you think you might like better.
