"Application on Hold" email from UMDNJ

Hello everyone,

I know everyone is busy for checking their AADSAS/email right now but I still decided to ask about this email from UMDNJ.

I just received an email from UMDNJ saying that they'll put my application on hold bec they can't offer me an interview at this time.

They asked me if I'm still interested in school and if I am, they'll re-consider my application later again.

I applied to UMDNJ really late, sometime early October. Does this mean rejection?

Anyone from last year received this email and was invited after?

Anyone this year received same email?

Yeah, I got that email too. It made me sad. 🙁

I applied late July (mid-Aug w/DAT scores). At least they sent us an email instead of leaving us hanging. Still, it kinda sucks to hear this... makes me worried about tomorrow.

I got that email too. I applied in July though. I don't think it means a rejection just yet. They are probably just going to see how many people accept their acceptance offers before they do any further interview offers.

The might just want to narrow down the applications they have remaining to people who are still going to seriously consider them. I am sure that after Dec 1st people will start denying interview invites if they get into their top choice. By knowing you are still interested, it seems like they will then review your application.

I wouldn't take it as a bad sign (just my opinion). Best of luck.

I want to know the answer to this too. Does anyone know if people from previous cycles received this email and were actually invited for an interview later on?
If there are any dental students reading this that know, please tell us.

I got the same email. Very similar to Buffalo's "continuing review" email. Does this basically mean that whoever receives one is waitlisted?

Yep, I was eventually invited to have an interview in December and then was just rejected yesterday. 🙁

Anyways, hope some of you guys are having better luck than I did.

UMDNJ sent me the same message back in December and I still have not heard anything from them as far as updates go 😕 ..... Do you guys happen to know how late in the cycle their interviews typically go?

I heard they are done with interviews for this cycle, but if I am wrong, someone please correct me.

I would call admissions on Monday and that way you can find out for sure. Good luck.

Wrong information. If i were you i would not contact just to find that info... its confidential info, they wont tell you. and you will piss them off. so unless if you have something to update them, refrain yourself from contacting them.

I stand corrected. Anyways, that was just what I had heard. I never at any point stated that the class was full.

Smiles8, it might be best to just wait it out. The only reason I suggested calling was b/c I saw people on SDN saying they called admissions (without saying who they were) to find out if interviews were still taking place. It didn't seem to be a problem, but do what makes you comfortable. I hope you get an interview from them this cycle. Good luck to you and everyone else that is still waiting to hear some good news from them. It really is such an amazing school.

It means you still have a shot, take it as a good sign. I know two of my friends who applied there just got emails stating that they weren't competitive enough (rejection letters). So what you got is better than the alternative.

People who have not been rejected nor been invited to an interview, do not lose hope. I assure you umdnj is NOT DONE interviewing. They are going to send out interviews pretty soon.

Even if they aren't done interviewing, I wonder what the chances of getting in are at this point. I interviewed in early Jan and just got notified that I am on the waitlist. When I interviewed there they kept saying that their class is mostly full. By they, I mean my interviewer, and Dr. Chaviano Moran. I'm still crossing my fingers for UMDNJ tho.
