application photo?

This is probably a stupid question, but I applied for my 3 month block for Step1 tonight and the "Certification of Identification and Authorization Form" that you have to send to NBME asks that you attach a 2x2" passport-type photo... Can we print these off or do we have to actually go out and get a passport-type photo on glossy paper like you do for your passport?

yep color printer works just fine (tho i did print mine on photo paper - glossy)

haha well thats basically what I'm asking. I have access to a color printer at school (w/ no glossy paper). Will that suffice, or do I bring a pic to some photo shop and have them print me a glossy 2x2?

Wow this has to be some sort of a record for SDN. One simple question, but >2 hours and >40 views later there is only one answer... 😀 Some of you had to have taken Step 1 by now and I assume for efficiency's sake thought it would be much easier to just print out a picture rather than getting one developed, so speak up!! 😀

This is what I emailed to the NBME back in January:

"Is a printed photo on copy paper acceptable for the Certification of Identification? I had previously heard that photo paper must be used if printed personally, but I wanted to confirm this with the NBME."

Reply:

"Thank you for your email. Any photo is acceptable as long as it is clear."
