First of all, I know there have been several similar threads posted, but I could not find one that caters directly to my unique situation. My AMCAS application is complete, and should be verified soon. The only thing is my MCAT is August 12. I do realize that this late of a test date, while feasible, puts me at a disadvantage relative to those who have taken the MCAT and are ready. My main question is, when do most ADCOM's start reviewing applications? I know this typically varies by school, but provided I have a good MCAT score and my application is complete by early September, its reasonable to assume that most schools will have just started their interviewing, correct? Thanks in Advance.

I think you should be fine, because if you are not applying early decision they will not be looking at your application at this time.

You will definitely be at a disadvantage. Although schools will have just started interviewing, your application will be behind all of those people who applied in the 3 months before you will. Each year there tends to be more and more early applications, so this will hurt you, but it is not necessarily a deal breaker. This means that your application has to be top notch. People here could assess your situation better if you told us your cgpa, sgpa, Ecs, shadowing, leadership positions, community service, and research (this will probably be moved to the "what are my chances" forum if you do). I only say this because if you are not strong in these areas, a late application with mediocre stats could end up as a wasted year in applying and you may be better suited to wait until next year and apply in early June.

By the time your MCAT scores arrive, several thousand applicants will be in our queue ahead of yours. Disadvantage? Very much so.
Thanks for the feedback. I do realize that many people will already be getting interview invites by the time my score gets in. However, provided I have a strong GPA (3.8cGPA, 3.8sGPA) 15 solid ECs, 5 good LOR's and I have been verified and have all of my secondaries in way before August, it wouldn't be a stretch to expect some interview invites with a good MCAT score (~32) would it? I think its safe to assume I could some interviews is October-November, but the spots would be much more competitive than if I had interviewed early on. Overall, is this an accurate assessment of what I can expect in my situation? I appreciate the time and thank you in advance!

More likely that you'd be invited for interview in Dec-Feb. I could be mistaken but I can't recall seeing August MCATs much before October 1.

A couple of my schools began interviewing in August. Is it possible to take the MCAT in July, since this will be the only thing delaying review of ur application? As seats fill up, the cycle gets more competitive so u don't want to delay ur application review until September unless u absolutely have to..
