Hi all - I am a 4th year DO student applying allo anesthesia this year. I've been working on a list of programs to apply to, and would love some input on the number of programs and if I should alter my list. I have read on these boards that DO students should apply to 30+ programs, and I could probably come up with 30 to apply to, but I would love to avoid going that high if I can avoid it for both financial reasons, and location reasons.
About me: I am a non-traditional DO student, 245 Step1, 270 Step 2, 3.95 GPA, honors in all my 3rd year rotations, have a surgery and medicine letter so far, and plan on getting an anesthesia letter in my upcoming rotations. I plan on applying to both categorical and advanced programs in order to make myself more competitive at certain places.
Here is my list:
Hopkins
Maryland
Penn
Thomas Jefferson
Temple
Drexel
UPMC
Allegheny
VCU
UNC
MUSC
Tufts
BIDMC
University of Chicago
UIC
Colorado
Oregon Health&Science
University of Washington
George Washington
Georgetown
Any input or advice would be welcome! Thanks!!!
