I didn't know how to word the title ^ my apologies, but I was wondering how adcoms view an application that has many things related to one another. For example, I'm a neurobio major and I have had 2 research internships that were both related to brain diseases etc. I know it doesn't count for much, but do the look favorably on the fact that you pursue your interests (for lack of a better word)? Like do adcoms prefer to see activities that all have a similar theme to them? I do have a strong interest in neurobio so I did all of this out of my own interest, and because of that I was curious how adcoms view it.

It's almost always always better to go depth before breadth. Commitment is more admirable than just a bunch of scratching the surface.

However, to get into medical school now, you can't just be president of some volunteer club, you have to have been president for every democratic nation in the free world.

Continuity is good. Of course it's good to show that once you start something you are able to continue and excel in that area. Do committee members prefer to see continuous activities? I mean, that depends on what else is in the application. If you had great research but a lack of shadowing, volunteering, and leadership... you probably wouldn't fare well against someone with moderate research plus all the other bits.
