If my application is still "under review" at many of the schools that I applied to at this stage of the application process, does this mean that I am a competitive applicant, or does it mean that they just did not get to review my app. yet? I was just wondering because on another thread someone stated that dental schools throw away half of the applications that they receive.

Under Review means that they are still reviewing your application, and there is nothing more or less to it. Good luck.
