I am new to this site and a lot of you guys seem to have your stuff together!! I have applied (today actually) and read all the schools sites to see what is next and from what I understand I wait to see if they request a secondary and that is it. Is that correct and my LOR are required with the secondary as well, correct? sorry just a nervous guy here freaking out that I have or will forget something. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

WAIT!

If you don't have a letter, start harassing the local DO's. Don't have local DO's? Go to the next town and harass theirs.

But seriously, wait. I'm not sure if the letter is due before the 2ndary. I'd get it ASAP though.

Make sure you have your letters of recommendation put together. You don't want your app to be on hold because of that. You can pass the long verification process wait time by starting to work on your secondary prompts. There's a ton of overlap between the schools. ChocolateBear has the prompts in his signature. That way, when you get secondaries in a few weeks, BAM! you can send em right back.

search around the forum, look for schools u r interested in for secondary questions and started writing your essays. Some schools require DO letters, some don't. Also, some don't require you to turn LORs in with the secondaries, so you can bring them in with you when you go to your interviews. There's a "school specific" thread above this, u should check it out to know what's going on n where u are in the process.

Congrats! As the others are saying, make sure you get your letters together. Most schools require one from a doctor (almost all 'strongly recommend' DO letter, only a select few actually require it) and a pre-health committee or science teacher from your University.

As scummie said, try to get started on the secondaries before they arrive. That way you can get a jump on those who don't know about SDN! Good luck and remember you can always ask SDN for help. Many professional fields, but medicine in particular, are all about getting a helping hand from others.

Welcome to SDN and welcome to the wonderful world of Osteopathic Medicine!
