Hey guys,

I'm in the process of applying for Fall 2009. I have a few questions regarding pharm schools application timing. I know that I should complete my PharmCAS app and submit it as soon as possible but I'm working full time at the same time so it's been going pretty slow. Anyways how much time left do I have? Do i have until the end of August (i mean for the schools with deadline in November)?

Thank you for your help.

It is still really early. Have no fear. Just do it as soon as you can. I think the majority of people that are freaking out right now are applying to schools with rolling admissions or early decision. Other than that you are way ok.

I don't see the point in applying so early, in my situation (other than to get it out of the way). If you still haven't written the PCAT, the schools will probably wait for those results before they look at your application anyways.

but if pcat isnt required, can we just submit our application? what if our LORs are still being written? Can we still submit pharmcas?

I remember it as...if pharmcas gets all your transcripts and you finish filling everything out, you can submit and try to get verified.

You can still submit your PharmCas without your LORs. They probably just won't fully look at your application until they have all of the necessary requirements in.

Anyone think that September is "late" to have my application in? I am taking the PCAT in August, and therefore the pharm schools won't receive the scores until later in September, meaning they won't review my application until then. I figured that I can relax a little and take it easy with my PharmCas. All I have to do is ask for LORs, and have my application in before my scores are sent out. My top choice school has a priority deadline on Nov. 1

PharmCAS says that once you have e-submitted your app you won't be able to make changes to it. Does that mean that I wouldn't be able to add more activities, for example if I happened to find more one-time volunteer activities to do?

Correct. Once you submit you can no longer make any changes to anything on your app. The only thing you will be able to do in the future is your academic update, but thats only for grades, not anything else. Honestly guys, the sooner you apply the better. And no you don't need to physically take the PCAT nor have LOR's submitted before you decide to click the send button. They will just update and verify all that stuff as it comes in, so you are only saving time if you submit soon.

As for the one-time activities, I genuinely think thats awesome and you should keep that up, but I wouldn't hold up my application for one-time things. While cool, these small things aren't going to have much of an impact on your app since schools actually like it better when you dedicate a lot of time towards one thing.

IMO, late is the day after the deadline. As long as you meet the deadline your app will be looked at. However, you have to realize that apps are looked at in the order they are received. And if you remember anything from speech class, it pays to go first (lower expectations lol). Anyways, no September isn't late. I submitted my stuff Nov 1 (for Cali schools). But then again I'm an idiot.

The sooner the better peoples.
