I had some unforeseen "road blocks" in my application timings, and I need to make sure that I still have a good shot this year.

In May, I was studying for my MCAT (5/26) and final exams which ended on June 14th (my University is on the quarter system). Immediately after finishing exams, I had to travel abroad for family reasons and got just got back last week. Unfortunately, my MCAT didn't turn out as I had hoped (12/5/14 Q), so I'm scheduled to retake August 18th.

I have completed all but the Personal Statement and intend to submit by the end of this month at the latest. Also, one of letter writers (my PI) wants to see my PS before writing it, so that will be set back.

My Questions are:
1) How far am I set back this cycle?
2) Can I upload new letter of recommendations after my AMCAS is verified?

My stats aside from the measly verbal score is pretty solid (3.96 GPA, decent ECs)

Schools won't consider you until the new MCAT is in and that will be September which is late. I think you can upload letter after AMCAS is verified but have to do so at each school (fairly sure but not 100%.)

That's very unbalanced score. I feel your pain, however, I didn't do well on verbal the first 2 times either.

Edit: Would I be correct in guessing that you are not a native speaker? Neither am I, came here when I was 17.

Can you complete secondaries before your score comes out? Yes, I'm not a native speaker. I came here when I was 11 though (I was averaging 9,10 on my FLs... so kinda shocking when I saw that score)

I am fairly certain that you can complete secondary before the new score, but I also remember reading some where that if you indicate there is a new MCAT coming, adcom will wait to see that score before reviewing your app.

Okay cool. I think it all works out. 4 weeks to verify, pump out those secondaries before score comes out and I will be finally complete. It's basically the same schedule for those who have submit end of July with early MCAT scores since they have to wait to get verified.

Thanks for the help! I appreciate it.

I just remember something. LORs are actually a part of the secondary application so on your primary you should list all letters that you have coming so the schools will know which letters to expect from you. They will review your apps once all the letters are in. Your primary can be verified before all letters are received by AMCAS.

Also please wait for others' feedbacks before doing anything. Good luck.
