I'm looking at taking my last prerequisite in the Fall of 2005, organic chemistry. So, I'm debating about taking the DAT, before I actually finish the class. If I want to apply for Fall 2006, what latest recommended timeframe for applications? Otherwise, I might slow down my pace and wait for Fall 2007.

thats too late, if you can take it in the summer it would help out alot...but remember you can still do well on the DAT organic chem section just by studying the Kaplan blue book...many have said that is sufficient and I agree since I study with it...

the latest i would take the dat for 2006 cycle would be sometime in summer of 2005. if you want to wait until after the fall 05 semester to take dat, then definitly you will need to wait and apply for 2007 cycle.

Definitely summer. A lot of people in this forum (including myself) took the DAT before we finished our pre-reqs. Just study hard on your own. If you put in the effort, you will crush the DAT even without that last prereq.

I'd say go for it. You don't really have anything to lose. Say to tank it on your first try. Then you just take O-chem in the fall like you would have to do anyway, and retake the DAT next year. Nothing lost. BUT if by some chance you do good enough on the DAT to get in...well then you just saved yourself a year of putting up with undergraduate @#%$!

If anyone ever asked you why you took it twice you have a good excuse: You were trying to get to dental school as fast as you could (even before finishing all pre-reqs). Kinda shows you are SUPER motivated or something.
