Applied DO and took a hit on mcat retake. Thoughts?

just trying to help, if you cant break 25 in three MCAT attempts and you score a 2 on VR then i fear for your performance in med school and on future board exams.

And if you can't learn that until YOU succeed you should avoid judging others, I fear for your performance in life.

Trust me that will be a much more tragic outcome than if the OP ultimately fails to matriculate.

I agree that if OP doesn't do well on his 4th MCAT, he should do some serious reconsideration.

i thought that was the point of this thread... to judge people's stats etc. and give them advice?

First two scores are from last year. I'm already signed up for sept. Canceling won't return any money.
My problem is with testing day and I should improve if I simply focus. My practice scores are much better but unfortunately I've exhausted all of the preferable materials. Secondaries are out so I need to save face now. If I have to reapply, I'll deal with that then.

You'll get a $120 refund. Your verbal section isn't going to improve in one month. Ask yourself, do you want to lose $120 on a cancelled exam or do you want to lose $240 on another terrible verbal score?

You are too wise for this forum

Signed up for sept. 7th. No refund for it and I'm very fortunate financially.

You're right. Your advice was spot on. I'm giving up. Good bye SDN

So you're giving yourself less than 2 weeks to improve?

Never said I stopped preparing. My practice tests from this last round were 28-34(FACT) and that last mcat was fairly recent so I'm still in the groove. I have the sciences locked down (except organic). I typically scored 7s and 8s on the AAMC VR tests (not great but good enough for DO with 10+ in the sciences(I got two 6s on the AAMCs but that is my absolute lowest excluding the real deal MCAT).

Just a few fun facts that you are neglecting because you're blinded by my 2. I'm not starting from a 2 level just because I screwed up and got a 2. My reading comprehension is just fine, otherwise I wouldn't have all double digit BS scores. My practice VRs aren't great but they are better than what I have credit for mostly because I get derailed on the real thing. The way I look at it, I need to practice taking the real thing. I can always void if I start going ADD on it like I did last time, and retake in January.

You realize a range like 28-34 combined with a 23 on the real thing indicates that you got lucky on the 34, right? If you can "screw up" and get a 2, you aren't very far from a "2 level" to begin with. You need to have some level of consistency in practice before you can have it on the real test.

Best of luck to you though.

Right now, I feel like my lowest practice test scores were lucky and I'll call it a success if I hit my lowest on the real deal.

da durka durr, dude

SDN is like a bad soap opera that you just can't stop watching.

Good luck OP. You'll either kill it dead or destroy yourself. Do or die baby.

There are other roles in healthcare you can fill that will give a lucrative and fulfilling career. Examine all the other great options like nursing.

No one who scores a two in verbal should be allowed into medical school. Verbal more than any section tests your ability to reason which at the end of the day is much more important in clinical practice than the endless memorization we endure for the first two years.

Seriously I'd be so upset if I found out a school let you in. A two is just beyond unacceptable. You have to be really really really dumb (there is no way to sugar coat this) in order to score that low.

Before you react badly, check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning–Kruger_effect

You may not be able to assess your own limitations but the MCAT is doing it for you.

Bio beats VR in assessment. I question YOUR ability to finish medical school with your incredibly poor judgment.

So many "Captain of the Med School Guard" in this thread. Who gives a **** if you are against the OP going into medical school? If the ADCOMs let him in, then they let him in. Does he have the best chance with a 2 in verbal? Definitely not. But to say that he shouldn't be allowed into medical school just because he scored a 2 on a standardized test that you can retake multiple times is ridiculous. He will have to retake to show the ADCOMs he can get above that, which it sounds like he can due to the practice tests. I also don't agree with taking the test too early again in September but it's not like it's your guys' lives on the line. Let him make the best decision for himself.

In a pool full of whiny kids, I'm surprised to see you and your infallible logic here.

The people on here are more upset with my 2 than I am. To all of them: I hope one day your balls drop and perhaps someone shows you what a vagina looks like. Maybe then you'll loosen up a bit

I will bump this thread when I get accepted. If anyone has a problem, PM me and I'll give you the information to where you can come out from behind your screen and discuss the situation in person.

How old are you? You're the biggest tool bag I've seen on the internet and they let you into medical school??? The OP knocked out two 11s and a 10 on BS(and states that he/she doesn't really have organic locked down), and you are trying to tell them they are "really really really dumb"??? WTF are you thinking? That's something like 80 percentile... significantly above the average. Look in the mirror, idiot.

The BS section is EVERY bit as much as a reading comprehension test as the VR AND THEN SOME. Can I get an AMEN from those who've taken it recently? Jesus!!!

They need to make undergrad longer because some of you kids that are roughly 4 years removed from highschool have some massive freaking internet egos. I look forward to the day you are face down in the gutter and the OP is taking a **** on you. 👎

Edit: Sorry to keep this nonsense going. I just hate judgmental tools.

He scored an 11 in PS and a 10 in BS. It's obviously some sort of a mental block. You're being a complete *******.

Yup, it's mental. Clearly the op can do better than a two. Keep practicing vr, find what's holding you back THEN (and only then) retake... That'd be my advice, it's free so take it for what it's worth.

I love everything you said! AMEN!

Dude, just walk away from this thread. You know what you have to do now, there's no point in lingering in it.

The unfortunate part is the OP likely would have gotten in somewhere with their second and probably even their first score.
