and I didn't get in with a low GPA. I volunteered at a clinic for about 8 months once a week while looking for a job. I found a job and worked for a year or two and then I decided to go back to school and improve my GPA. I'm at Barry University's program and I have a 3.4 right now....all science classes. What is my shot at gaining admission? How should I explain without the adcoms thinking that my working means that I am not committed to dentistry? Thanks! Also DAT 20/21/21

I think you have a pretty good shot. The fact that you went back to school shows the dedication you have towards obtaining a dental degree and taking the necessary steps in order to do so. My friend a few years back applied to school, got waitlisted, and then worked in like a business office for 2 years. He got sick of it and decided to do a Masters and re-apply to dschool and got in this time. I think he had around a 3.7 in his Masters (unsure of his undergrad GPA). So the fact is that there are people who have been in your situation and have been accepted to dschool, so I wouldn't worry too much. Just try to get a 3.5 in your masters program at least, b/c I'm doing a masters program right now too and I was told to maintain at least a 3.5 for any reasonable consideration into my app.
