Hello All,

I am an IMG Looking for IM and FM community program, Here is my situation and I need your help in making a decision.

Step1: 202
CS: Pass
CK: Giving Exam on 23rd September, score will be out on October 14th.
USCE : 4 months (2 US LOR's)
2013 Graduate.
No need of Visa, Have EAD.

I know that my step1 score is very low and having low chances of match compared to all other high scorers. I want to make sure that I don't miss on an opportunity.. For CK, I consistently Got 240's in NBME's and UWAS. I am targeting for 235 to 240 which seems pretty realistic to me and I would like to be optimistic about it 🙂. Please answer the below questions,

1. Should I go ahead and apply with Just Step1 and CS or Wait for my CK Result and then apply as I have a low Step1 score? Will this increase my chances?

2. Whats the risk on Applying early with Low step1 vs applying late with high step2?

3. I am aware of how filtration works, I am applying for programs that have cutoff for step1 200, If I apply now, what are the chances that I pass the Filter and still they never get to see my CK score even though I score high?

4. Is there a different strategy for my current situation other than the above two?

Please kindly suggest.

Thank you all.

You are in a tough situation. I might apply to 50% of programs now, and then 50% in October. Sure, you'll be late on some, but then you hedge your bets if you don't get a lot of interviews the first round. At least I was pretty sure you can continue to apply to more programs. Someone correct me if I'm wrong?
