Interested in some guidance for a friend who is interested in applying next cycle, or if he should wait. I've been helping him gather information.
Is this plan too rushed over the next 10 months (End of August 2017)?
Background:
3.49 Cum GPA, science GPA similar if not higher.
Currently works full-time ~40 hrs/week.
Needs to take:
Organic Chem I & II, Physics I & II, and possibly Biochemistry
(Can you get by with just self-studying MCAT biochemistry through MCAT review books for the MCAT)
Shadowing:
Shadowing 3 physicians, 2 MD specialists and 1 DO primary care
~100 hours by end of summer.
Timeline:
-Take Physics I & Lab online at UNE starting late this month. try and finish by January.
-If schedule permits, take Physics II in class at CC or state school this spring
-Take Organic Chem I & II at UNE this spring/summer.
-Would need to study for the MCAT over the summer.
-Take MCAT late summer.
-Apply late summer/early fall. Is this too late in the cycle to be competitive?
