Hi all,

When you guys apply to many schools, it means that you pay for each application for the school, doesn't it?
And pharmcas makes it easier for us to apply for schools because they send multiple applications to the schools, right?
SO, I assume that you spend hell lot of money for applying. Say, apply to 20 schools and spend, perhaps, the maximum of $ 2000 just for applying?

And for the letter of recommendation, do you really have to know the professor? Well, I have one on top of my mind, but I just know him from the last one year. I hope that will enough for my personal data from the professor.

thanx for your reply

Here is a link to the fees on PharmCAS. http://www.pharmcas.org/applicants/fees.htm

Most schools have supplemental fees also, which are separate from PharmCAS. Check with each school individually.

As for your recommendations, why would you want someone who doesn't know you to write a letter for you? Most schools want a science professor to write a letter for you. Others require that plus a liberal arts professor. Check the schools to whom you wish to apply to see what they require. If you don't know your professors well or vice versa, I'd change that situation with this coming year. 🙂

It costs plenty of money to apply. I had it all figured out on paper, but off the top of my head:
PCAT $80
Transcript fees $60
App fees $300
Overnight Mail $50
Plane tickets $400
Hotels $350
Interview Suit/Shoes $300
Food while on the road $100
Rental car $120
Etc.
As you can see, the big fees come into play when you apply to distant schools. I had to get hotels for two interviews, and get airlplane tickets and a rental car for one. The "app fees" and related costs aren't that high, it's the interviews and related costs that can really get you. (Those were fees for only applying to 4 schools and interviewing at 2 in '03)

Finally getting into a pharmacy school, having a minimal to non-existent social life, taking classes that will cause your brain to explode, finally getting your PharmD, and passing the boards - PRICELESS! 😉 Well, with the exception of all that tuition plus interest you now have to pay back. 😀

Yeah and throw in Private school tuition....

Pharmcas, AAMCASS, AACOMAS, ADADSAS ALL have one thing in common!!!

They are all scams!!! They are there just to charge more money from college students!!!

Wow...looking at all those costs makes me very grateful to have gotten into UF (and without an interview). Yikes...applying can be very costly!
