Hello everyone,

I'm going to be a senior in undergrad this coming Fall. I had planned on applying for Psy.D. programs and taking the GRE's this summer. However, I went through a major health crisis last semester and I'm just now recovering from it. At the moment, as a result of the residual effects from the health problem and the heavy medications I'm on for it, I am doing very poorly with studying for the GRE's; I just can't handle the memorization and studying that it requires during my recovery. Because of this, I have decided to wait another year or two before I take them and apply to graduate schools.

The question I have for you guys is what should I do between graduation and the time in which I apply for Psy.D. programs to enhance my chance of being accepted into one. The only thing I have been told is to apply for a research assistant position after I graduate, although I'm not sure how much good this will do for a Psy.D. program.

I should note that I have 2 years of research experience (with a couple publications), but absolutely no clinical experience. Is there a specific job that will give me this post-graduation that pays? Is there anything else I should do besides getting a related job?

Thanks for any responses!
