Would now be a good time to apply for the fall or summer of 2012 to the carib schools and would it hurt me if I applied in november or december? I'm assuming I should probably just do it during regular application cycle. Also if I don't apply this cycle, around what time would be good to apply for winter 2013? Thanks all!

I think most likely yes, but I've been very negative lately in thinking that my app is not as strong as I'd like it to be this year for u.s. so I thought I might try carribbean this year and see what happens.

if you're applying for the US cycle too, start applying to the caribbean schools in december/january (as in submit them then) depending on when you hear back from US schools. the turn around time on the apps is substantially faster (especially SGU) as they are reviewed as they come in and dealt with individually rather than as one big group. If you apply, don't forget that they are also trying to fill January (Ross, SGU) and May (Ross) start date classes as well. I applied at the end of February and heard back from SGU in 10 weeks (so beginning of May) with the results of my interview (which i heard back about 3 weeks after applying). Ross took a bit longer (I had my interview scheduled for 8 weeks after I applied-had to move it back because they chose the same date as SGU and I had already scheduled that one!) so I hadn't even interviewed when I heard back from SGU (which was fine because SGU was my top pick anyway!)

the main reason to wait is because once you hear about an acceptance (which is hopefully what you'll get!), you only have 2 weeks to accept/decline and submit a deposit. You might be able to push it back for extenuating circumstances, but if you haven't heard from US schools, you run into a bit of a problem (either lose the seat for the caribbean school if you want to wait, or lose money you spent applying to US schools).

This is good advice. I've tossed around the idea of applying to Caribbean schools as well -- but I'm waiting to see about interview offers at the beginning of the 2012 calendar year. If I'm not feeling confident based on that, then I will be filling my application then. The quick turn-around is what you have to be careful of -- you don't want to have to put a deposit down on a seat because you applied too early when your American application went better than expected. Just wait and see what the schools think of your app before making any moves. 🙂

I think I am in the same boat as you. I have been very discouraged this year filling out my apps. I was planning on submitting my US apps and then applying to Ross in January as a back up.
