Hello everyone!
I am a pre-vet student studying Animal Science. I am planning to apply to vet school a year early. Ideally, I would like to shave some time off schooling, but I would also appreciate having an application review before the regular cycle if I don’t get in. I understand that applying early puts me at a disadvantage, due to having less time to get experience and fewer college courses completed, but I want to try.
I have a little over a year until my application will be due. I would love to know what you think would be most advantageous to focus on within the next year to make me the most ideal candidate I can be. I don’t have a ton of extra time in my schedule due to training a horse, taking care of my dog, and my class load, so I want to make the most of my free time.
I know I am currently lacking in large animal experience. Starting in two weeks, I will be shadowing 3hrs/week minimum in equine rehab. I have the opportunity to shadow more there, but don’t want to block myself off from other opportunities if something else might help me more.
Also trying to decide how to best use my next summer.
Any advice is appreciated!
