Now, I'm not that non-trad (22 y/o, graduated early took a year off and then applied), but I work full time + another part time job + take courses for fun + shadow/volunteer. I'm doing my interviews on the day that least intrusive.
anywho, I work at a lab. I got a lot done the first year. I'm currently writing two publications and hoping one leads to a patent (i'm applying md/phd).
now the patent sounds good and all and it should take a lot of time, but the lab is taking a toll on me. if i'm going to do an md/phd thats something i will be doing for the rest of my life. i want a break, and i want a little bit of breathing room IF i were to get into medical school before january.
So has anyone every been in a similar situation before? Or anyone planning to switch their jobs depending on the app season? It can't hurt to sign up for recruiting right, esp if I don't get into school. Any advice to go along with it? Sorry for being all over the place, im falling asleep at work right now and I've always wanted to explore something different for a little bit before going back to school (and hopefully something that pays). But I don't want to make things awkward at the lab (I did all of the work on my project and I wrote it, so there's no way i can not be the 1st author, i have the data) because my PI has been a great understanding mentor and all. I want to repay my loans or at least have a little in the bank. Anyone understand?
