I heard that AMCAS sends applications to the medical schools in waves. So for example, applications submitted on June 1st and applications submitted on June 5th would be no different, if the 'first wave' of applications were sent June 6th.

Does anyone have anymore information about this? Is this even true? If it is, does anyone know of any specific dates?

I've been set on submitting my application on June 1st, but my personal statement needs further revision, and I'll be going on a medical mission the first week of June, and I'm concerned that even though it may be small, my chances of acceptance won't be maximized if I wait until the second week of June to turn it in.

Thanks.

oh.. i knew i posted the thread but i couldn't find it again. Thanks!

What does it mean to be verified..? Why would this matter at all, if the earliest they send out any applications is July 17th, as long the verification date is earlier than July 17th?

nevermind.. i understand.. as it gets later in the month, it takes longer to get verified.. looking at last year's post, it seems that I would barely make it to be submitted July 17th if I wait a week.

It's not all about when you send in the primary. The ultimate goal is to be considered "complete" at the schools you are applying to early. That means making sure your scores, secondaries, LORs are all in early... it's not just contingent upon the primary app.

Granted, don't turn in your primary in August and expect everything to be done that month.

Is there a difference between submitting June 1st and submitting June 10th? As long as you're complete sometime before June 15th, do they send them all out June 15th or in 'waves' as was alluded to earlier? I'm confused as to whether this question was answered or not, sorry if has been and I'm being a derp 😕

It's going to make a difference in when you're verified, and the only secondary I received before verification was GWU. Most schools won't bother with your app until you have an AMCAS GPA.

Edit: I don't think it has much to do with AMCAS releasing applications, though no one can really tell you what happens behind the scenes there. Any of our resident adcom members, do schools have to download applications specifying their institution or does AMCAS batch them out to you? If the schools are the responsible parties, is this something that happens daily? Are you only DLing verified apps?
