I have a few questions about applying early decision:
-Are early decision applications for medical schools always binding (if you apply and are accepted, you must go there)?
-For those of you who did apply early decision, and if it was binding, how were you so sure that this school was where you wanted to go? And, if you could apply again, would you still apply early decision?
-For those of you who did apply early decision, where did you apply?
-Is it easier to get in if you apply early decision?
-Any other opinions about applying this way?

Sorry for the inundation of questions. 🙂

Well, first of all, you should probably post this in the PreMed Allopathy Forum, where you're likely to get more responses. But, needless to say, I believe if you apply ED and are accepted prior to October 1 (15?), you are "required" to attend that school. I'm not sure how "required" you really are, as obviously they can't put you in prison if you don't go. But, I have a feeling if another school finds out you applied Early Decision to a school, were accepted prior to Oct. 1, and did not go, they would think very badly of you, which is obviously detrimental to your chance for admission. I don't think anyone applies ED to a school they are not 100% sure of wanting to be, anyways, so this isn't really an issue. Typically, to apply ED you ahve to have slightly higher stats (3.7 GPA, 30 MCAT for example for USF).

Sure, it's better if you're sure you want to be there and don't want the anxiety that comes when running with the rest of the rats.
