Hi all!

I am currently as M1 and I am a Canadian. I am interested in pursuing Ophthalmology,

I know this is a competitive speciality and want to know if my citizenship status will impede me to the point where it is probably not the best option to pursue it. Moreover, I am unsure of exactly how competitive it is compared to other specialties such as neurology, dermatology.

Anyone in a similar boat or experienced this care to shed some advice, it is much appreciated!!

Can anyone also shed light on tips to secure ophthalmology if you are from a low tier MD school.

It’s highly competitive. Your best chance would probably be at your home program, so get involved there and make sure they think you’re the best!

If you have a green card it doesn't matter.

If you need J or H , then choices will be starting to limit, but not to extent that it’s difficult. A stellar applicant will definitely get in.
