Applying for fee waiver

Should I apply for a fee waiver now or should I just go submit my app now and pay?

It takes about three weeks for the fee waiver to be approved by FAP. If you apply now, you'll be able to submit at the end of June. At that point it will take 5-6 weeks to be verified and you can be complete late July or early August. I was complete in mid-August and ended up with 10 interview invites out of 14 schools.

Applying for FAP now saves you about $600 plus the cost of secondaries. It's early enough that, if you apply today, you will still be complete early enough to be competitive. I would apply.

Wow, thanks for that!

Would it still take 5-6 weeks for the verification even if all the transcripts are already submitted?

It actually took them only about 3 days to process and approve my FAP. I was surprised how fast it was also. So don't worry about being late, as long as you send them all the documents they need.

great, thanks for your kind advise

It's still so early in the app process, so waiting for the fee waiver now shouldn't be a big deal. It's definitely worth it.

I got mine approved in only about 2 weeks, well worth the wait. Its about 85$ per secondary for 14 maximum schools, plus ~250$ in AMCAS savings. Even a caveman would wait for that.

OP, I had the same EXACT question on my mind for days, so thank you for making this thread!
