Hi guys,

so i just graduated this year and am licensed in Illinois. I am looking to apply to non-traditional residency programs specifically managed-care programs and was wondering, I need to take all my state law exams beforehand right and apply to residency programs in only those states? Since, NABP only allows for score transfer to be done within 90 days and we need that state's license before residency (unless applying to VA programs and/or federal programs) Thank you!

My understanding with most ASHP accreditated residencies, including managed care ones, is that you have 90 days to be licensed in that respective state. You need to be licensed for 3/4 of the residency. So you need a license in that state by October 1st, typically.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong since this is managed care, but that’s my understanding of it.

Sounds like things are much easier for you. You’re already graduated and licensed. The moment match results come out in March, and you know where you’re going, just score transfer to that state and sign up for the respective mpje. You’ll have a leg up on everyone else since you don’t have to wait to graduate for your ATT to be generated.

If you do it efficiently, and pass, you’ll probably be licensed before you even start residency.
