If I am applying for MD/PhD, should my personal statement address mostly research?? I only mentioned that my goal is to be physician in the statement. I did not explicitly state that I want to be a researcher in the statement. Should I include that? I was applying for MD at some schools and MD/PhD at other schools, so I did not write anything about being a researcher. Wanted to make it general. Any advise?
Also, if I am applying some for MD and others for MD/PhD, is it fine for me to have common Letter of Rec for both programs. As of now, my letters probably state MD/PhD.
I am currently undecided about MD or MD/PhD. I was thinking of making that decision after getting accepted to the programs at the medical school. If accepted to both MD and PhD, do I have a choice in accepting MD only if I choose to since some schools make sure that I qualify for MD prior to making sure about PhD??

Thanks,
Has.

I know that this answer may seem ambiguous, but make your personal statement catchy and somewhat general.

i.e. Have a good theme and say that you enjoy the field of Medicine (not soley an MD or a joint MD/PhD persay).

List a few of your pivotal experiences (clinical and research related) and state that is why medicine is for you.

Medicine is an all encompassing field that takes in the clinical and research oriented activities a doctor will perform.

Leave the Secondaries' essays to elucidate your intentions for each of the schools.

Good luck, hope that helps a little.

I've been reviewing people's PS's and reading up some other ones in a book. I seen it done both ways, so what you're doing right now is OK. It wouldn't hurt to mention some research though, most PS mention research/clinical work.
