I was just wondering, what do programs look for when applying for psych fellowships?
Are Step 3 score important or is it dependant more on other factors like psych boards, LOR from own PD, or research? Is there anyway to rank them like with psych residency on what most programs used (i.e. like residencies use Step 1, 2 scores as a filter)?

I don't think any of the consult fellowships I applied to even had my USMLE scores. They care about LORs from residency and your interview.

Please reply if you have applied for a psych fellowship. So many people have viewed the posting yet there has only been one reply.
Thanks for your input, Doc Samson

Holy crap, be patient! While many of us viewers are interested in psych, not all of us are residents, let alone upper year residents or attendings who would be well versed in the rules about fellowships enough to answer your question.

I'm applying to just one program and I don't think the application even asked for USMLE scores. They did want my med school transcript and dean's letter. Grades and scores were not part of the discussion on the interviews, and oddly, no one asked anything about residency evaluations or recommendations. Of course, I don't think that psychiatry fellowships are highly competitive- C/A psych reportedly has the most severe shortage of any field in all of medicine.
