I posted this in another forum sub forum, but I think it belong here.
I have very average scores on both my Step 1 and 2, and I also have US Citizenship. Currently, I am working in the UK, and hope to specialize in Emergency Medicine here (in the UK).
My step scores will still be valid for some time, and after a few years here in the UK, I was thinking about returning to the States.
If I apply to US Residency Programs (Emergency Medicine, or any other), will my chances of acceptance be good?
I was thinking it shouldn't be much of a problem, because I will already have specialized training in the UK, I already have US citizenship, and I have already taken my Step 1 and 2 exams.
As far as I know, the things going against my chances, are average Step scores, and lack of Research, Publications, PhD, Masters, or anything else.
Could you give me some insight, as to realistic expectations I should have. I'm interested in Emergency Medicine, and I know its competitive in the US, which is why I ask.
