Hey Everyone,
2nd time applicant applying in U.S. to 17 M.D. schools, and around 5 D.O. schools. I was offered D.O. interviews but I was late to the cycle and thus they were for wait-listed seats, so I didn't bother.
This is my last time applying to medical school, and thus I am exploring applying to foreign MD schools as a back up plan.
Stats: Canadian/US dual citizen, Oregon resident. cGPA: 3.73 sGPA: ~3.68. MCAT: 30. EC's: ER Scribe, neuroscience research, HIV clinic volunteer, free non-profit clinic volunteer, tons of leadership in college, lots of diverse experiences in leadership, hobbies, talents, etc.
FYI: Educated in Spanish x3yrs, not really proficient anymore but can get by and can pick it up easily if I had to. Also, before you ask, since I'm not a Canadian resident of a province (but I am a citizen) it's really difficult to get into Canadian schools out-of-province.
Here are my questions:
1) Which Carribean schools should I apply to?
2) Which foreign medical schools in general do I have the best chance at? (e.g. UK/Europe)
3) How do I apply to Carribean schools?
4) How do I apply for Cuban schools? Should I?
5) Should I wait until I know if I'm rejected in US before applying abroad, or should I start ASAP?
**Note: I am completely aware the MD and DO is a dramatically better option than foreign med schools, but I humbly ask for any answers other users might have for me regarding schools abroad. This is for me to educate myself of what to do in the worst case scenario. Thank you all 🙂
