I heard from a friend that applying to dental school from a private undergrad. school isn't as good as applying from a public or state school. I wasn't sure how right he was, so does anyone know if dental schools look at private school better, worse, or the same as public schools when applying?...because I am about to graduate from a private school in Buffalo, NY next year

Dental schools only care about your stats (GPA, DAT, ECs, LORs).

They also don't care about your major (I asked this b/c I have a lower gpa in a tough major (engineering)).

Bottom line is, if you're number's are good, you should be able to get an interview at the least.

Admission committees are made up of academic professionals. They know what kind of students schools produce. Whether the school influences their decision I do not know, but they do not completely disregard it. Public vs. Private is definitely not an issue though. Great schools fit in both categories.
