Is applying towards the middle to end of august considered a late application?

Lots of schools sent out their first set of invites by mid to late August, but it is a rolling cycle and lots of people are still completing their applications then and even later. Plenty of schools will still continue sending out invites over the coming months, and some schools continue interviewing up through april in order to fill their seats. I hope this was a comprehensive answer.

It's on the later end, but not too late. You may just get more post December interview invitation vs. pre December invites. But then, it seems there are still some schools who haven't even given out many invitations yet. So many variables....but you should be fine!

Yes, it's late and really depends on where you apply and what your stats are. I applied 8/24 last year to ~12 schools with a 25, and was able to get 8 interviews (attended 4) and 4 acceptances. Other people who applied around the same time with a 23 got about 4-5 interviews but only 1 acceptance. Applying late is a gamble and should be avoided! But depending on where you apply, you might still be successful. Good luck though 🙂

It is late, but not to the point where I would advise someone to not even bother applying that cycle. Usually, I would say that for somebody who is still wanting to apply September 1 or later. From what I heard, most schools review applications in the order received, and will say "we will get to your application when we get to it". Even though most schools have not yet filled their pre-December interview slots at this point in this cycle, they may still not have gotten through all applications received within the last month or two.

What are your stats? They will make a difference regarding interview invites (as they do for all....but especially with applying late.).

My app was completed around the 23rd and I've got 4 interviews with not so special stats. And a friend of mine applied in October and ended up with 5 interviews would not recommend that tho.
