So I'm applying this spring to the PA/FNP program at UC Davis. I currently have a 3.56 overall with all class requirements done. I've been working at a student run clinic for the pass quarter, continuing into this quarter where I may eventually become the clinical manager. I have 3 fairly solid letters of recs, 2 from Professors and 1 from an MD. I'm also involved in the organization of a large annual health fair in the UCDMC/Sacramento area for the Asian community.

Currently I think I have many of my bases covered, but my GPA worries me a little. Is a 3.56 competitive enough to make it into any non-graduate/GRE PA programs and will all my extracurricular outweigh the deficit in GPA? Thanks for the help!

gpa is fine.
I assume you already have a bsn if you are doing the pa/fnp option.
how many hrs of hce do you have?

Well I actually don't have a BSN because I'm only a 3rd year, but the program at Davis as far as I know does not require a degree to apply to the PA Program. As far as hours go, I only have 100-200 hours of HCE since our clinic is student run, our preceptors are all volunteers and clinic can only be open on Saturdays.

That could be a problem; Davis is one of the programs that values experience highly. Per their own website, two years of hands on experience is highly recommended.

imho the only reason to go to ucd is for the dual pa/np.
if you aren't a nurse with 2 years+ of full time experience you should look elsewhere.
