I go to Cornell University and have a question regarding LORs. We use a committee to write a composite letter and the three people I used to do so were:
1) an MD who I did clinical research with at U of Minnesota for 2 summers
2) the faculty member I am currently doing research with (2 semesters)
3) One of my neurobiology professors

My question is this: I was looking through supplementary application forms for a few medical schools and they seemed to require or recommend 2 letters from TEACHERS who have taught you in a science class. Is this a general requirement for most medical schools? I only have 1 professor in my list of 3 and the application also noted a faculty member you are doing research under does not count. Should I be worried/start looking for another professor or are the 3 I have fine?

Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated

From my experience, that requirement is only if you don't meet the initial recommendation of submitting a committee letter.

Where did you find the supplementary applications? My question was related to that.

I also was confused about the 2 science prof thing. My school (UC berkeley) doesn't have a committee so its a real pain to figure out what they mean by "science"

Good luck with the next application! I am there with you.

A committee letter generally fills all requirements. Otherwise you should have 2 science prof letters, 1 activity letter (volunteering, research, etc) and 1 non-science prof letter to be prepared at most places.
