Does anyone know how the application process works? I'm applying this September for 2010 matriculation. Are you allowed to access the application early, and then submit it as soon as Sept 1 comes? From reading threads, it seems like there is variability in terms of schools' response times. Do all schools interview on Mondays/Fridays? Also, how many interviews do people normally go to?

Sorry if this is a lot of questions! I'd like to be as prepared as possible. Thank you to everyone for their responses; they will ease my peace of mind about applying! 🙂

since the app rarely changes, your best bet is to sign up for an application in THIS cycle. then look over what material you need to have ready to fill in for september.

a. Yea there is variability. But if ur gonna apply on 9/1 you will hear at different times. In fact, this is a good thing bc ur early enough in the cycle to relax and not be pressure that all the seats will be gone in 3 months like med/dent schools.
b. NO! in fact it depends on the school when they choose to interview. for example, ny has midweek interviews. temple is M/F interviews with a few on thursday here and there. i have also heard of people getting phone interviews who have good enough stats that just cant make it out to the school.
c. this is very dependent on you and you alone. if you got the cash, i say see each school you have an active interest in. think about it tho, if you are gonna invest 200k and 4 years, wouldnt you want to experience what each school/city has to offer. it took me a visit to miami to realize it wasnt the school or environment for me despite how much my friends told me "your right next to the beach!"

Yeah, I'm really glad I joined! It's only been a day and already it's been helpful.

Good idea-- I just signed up and copy/pasted all the prompts.

This is definitely good to know- I spent a lot of time picking classes for fall quarter that I could miss occasionally. Luckily, most professors are understanding.

Yeah, i want to apply in september for 2010 admission... Does anyone know how quickly each school responds generally... For example: If i have everything handed in on september 2nd, will i know which schools i have been admitted to by christmas?

by christmas? trying to get extra hugs from ur fam? but u def be able to have an acceptance letter by then. all schools will start their interview process by october. gl in '10.

I'd agree with podpod in opening up this years application to see exactly what you need. I applied in February and got responses from OCPM and DMU within a week (ish), Barry following that and AZPod a month or so later.

My advice is to stay on top of LOR's. Some of the schools will hold off an invite until the application is complete and we all know how undergrad profs can be.

Best of luck. Don't sweat the application/interview process that much it's really pretty relaxed compared to other types of graduate healtchare programs.

Most will interview you w/o MCAT. If you took it and just waiting on receiving a score, even better.
