Hey group

I plan on applying early (June), however, I want to have a good month of study before taking my 1st DAT. July is probably the best time for me to take since I'm currently enrolled in a Kaplan course, along with a full load of classes for this semester which prevents me from setting aside time for DAT studies. Now, if I apply before taking my first DAT, will they put my application on hold (not review) until the admissions get my dat score? I really don't want to wait till next yr to apply.. Thank you very much in advance.

btw, I only have second half of physics left for the prereqs which I plan to fulfill by this summer, if not, coming fall semester if it matters for this discussion.

I guess my question has already been answered in the "new applicant please read" thread. Thanks though.

But I have a new question now. Would it be "better" for me to still apply early then to wait for my first June dat score to come out?

They probably won't review your application until its complete, which means your DAT has to be in for them to actually begin looking at your applicatiom.

Taking it in July shouldn't be that bad. I took it in mid August and have received some first round acceptances.

As for physics, just make sure you finish it before you matriculate and it will be OK. 🙂

Some advice, start talking with your profs and see which 2 science and one non-science will write the best letters for you. Also, make sure you have a solid letter of rec from a dentist you've shadowed. Start working on your personal statement as well, or at least thinking about it 😉

Get your application (with transcripts and LORs) in first. That will take the longest to process. Once you take the DAT it will be sent to the schools right away. Don't want any unnecessary delays.

So...if I were to take the DAT in mid/late May and apply the first of June, would the schools get my DAT scores first??

Probably. The DAT score is just sent directly to the schools. The application, transcripts, and LOR have to be processed by AADSAS and then sent to the schools. It could take them as much as 2 months but if you apply early they may get it done quicker.
