Pre-dental student CC or 4 year, after completing my freshman year

I just completed my freshman year at a mid tier very science based 4 year university. Due to many personal issues and challenges, I am not happy with my GPA whatsoever, and am considering coming back home to a CC for two years and then transferring to hopefully a better university (I am in California so community colleges are very helpful with UC schools etc.) however, I am worried how three different institutions will be looked upon to dental schools. Is it worth it to go back to a CC and try to achieve a high GPA, or stick it out and lock in on academics going back to my four year, in order to end with a high GPA at the same university?

lock in. upward trend will be good considering sophomore classes and beyond are more difficult compared to freshman science classes.
