Do not worry. It will work out. Somehow, someway, it will work out in the end. If you want this, you will make it happen. Enjoy the ride and make the most of it.

Let me give you an example...

I was accepted to a few US MD schools during this past cycle, and I am very grateful. However, I really wanted to return to Canada for school

For those of you that do not know, Canadian MD admissions is insanely competitive. The 3.5gpa/30 MCAT rule, goes up to 3.85+gpa/33-34 MCAT in Canada.

I was devastated after my Canadian interviews... I really thought I bombed them and I would be waitlisted or worse... rejected. My top choice school went something like this...

i) Panel interview with a med student (3rd or 4th year), community member, and a physician.
ii) MMI type question(s) requiring a role play
iii) Ethics out of LEFT field
iv) The doctor wouldn't look me in the eyes, and he was apathetic (in retrospect, probably trying to psych me out)

Well needless to say, I walked out feeling meh. Then about 5 minutes later, I remembered stuff I didn't say and it was OVER. Completely stressed out.

Anyways, I received an offer of admission on the first day they sent out offers. I was seriously shocked. I was for sure expecting a waitlist.

Other people walked out and felt great and got waitlisted. Other people walked out and felt great and then got in.

Moral of the story, you NEVER know. Leave it all in the dust, so that when it settles you know you did everything in your power to get that spot. Things aren't always what they seem. Good things do happen.

Good luck everyone! :luck:

Congrats again, CB!

Never give up. Never surrender!

Great post. I think sometimes we have a tendency to get so wrapped up in the little details and neuroticism of the application process. At some point, you just need to step back and let the chips fall where they may.

Also, congrats on the acceptance!

Great stuff, Blu. And congrats on the acceptance man.

👍

I can certainly attest to this. This past cycle, pretty much everything went better than expected. I'm definitely very blessed. :hardy:

Yeah, it's brutal. Just not enough schools and not enough seats for all the qualified applicants. My husband has applied twice to Canadian schools. This will be the third cycle and he's adding about ten US schools to the list. He has a great MCAT but his top choice Canadian school only looks at verbal. :/

So you're going back to Canada for med school?

great post...just what i needed in the mix of apply this cycle. I will keep this in mind when im feeling overwhelmed and defeated.

Congrats again, CB. 🙂 I hope it's not against the law in Canada for me to send you naked pictures.

Congrats on your Canadian acceptance, and getting into your first choice 👍. I think I remember your first-choice school due to your mother's heritage 🙂. Best of luck in your future endeavors!
