I am planning on applying to both MD and MD/PhD programs. I don't necessarily plan on going into pure basic science research but want to incorporate more applied research in my career (through industry or policy etc). So there are only certain joint programs that interest me.
Has anyone applied to both? Did you ask your recommenders to write the letters for both or just one of them? Also, did anyone have their PI write two letters-one targeted just for medical school and a research focused one to MD/PhD programs?
