Hey, I am also thinking of doing the same. But I am slightly more clever or stupid. I am applying to med schools in usa but to dental schools in Australia (there are 2 of them that are graduate entry). I haven't taken dat and they accept mcat. 1 of them (sydney) is also attractive in that you take the first 2 years of classes with med students. Then you can get advanced standing if you later decide to pursue a medical degree. The dental admissions for sydney is based purely on interview, so I am not optimistic at all about getting admitted, but I'll probably try it anyway. At sydney they definitely don't care if you are applying to dental or medical school and many local applicants apply to both and just rank either dentistry or med as their #1 choice and often are accepted to both or rejected by both because their interview performance decides the outcome. One problem with this is that they make their decisions in september or october. And if accepted they make you pay a deposit. I don't know how expensive is the deposit but if it is expensive, it might not work out.
p.s. look into case western md/dds
pps. Not to go off-topic, but I have a very difficult decision to make between these two professions. I want to be either a dentist(either general, perio, or endo) or an ER physician. That is if I go to med school, it is only to do ER, nothing else.
